ABOUT BTS
BTS- Beyond The Scene, are seven artists originating from South Korea who have captivated the hearts of Gen Z through their motivational music, work ethic, philanthropic advocacy for issues that matter to the young generation (such as mental health), their End Violence Campaign collaboration with UNICEF- aimed to put a stop to violence against youth, plus their overall charisma and friendly personalities.

Key drivers of the 21st Century Hallyu
In 2014, during the early days of their career, a young and energetic Jung Hoseok jokingly first recorded the following lyrics;

"The kids who will lead the 21st Century Hallyu have started to play."

What is Hallyu? Hallyu is a term used to define the growing link between South Korean soft influence (via music, fashion, self care, technology and other soft powers), to the rest of the world.
​
Looking back now at these words, it was quite playful and cheeky foreshadowing as indeed, BTS evolved to become key drivers of the South Korean Wave, to the 21st Century youth, winning the hearts of Gen Z, and making K-pop a globally respected genre.

In a way, one can say that the BTS Army Uganda are also leading the Hallyu Wave in East Africa, following in the footsteps of our role models BTS.

The video below encapsulates the feelings that BTS and Army share as a global community- positivity and continuous growth. All phrased in one word-"EogiYeongCha" - a chant aimed at giving people strength.
This one simple chant, not only sums up the BTS and Army philosophy as a whole, but also sums up the collective feeling of passion and positivity that we as the BTS Army Uganda feel in our hearts, and wish to put out into the world.
